Organization's List of Critic Judges is published for the benefit of
zone, district, area, and regional personnel making choices of critic
judges for the one-act play contest. Only the judges on this list may be
used to adjudicate UIL one-act play contests. [Refer to Section 1033 (d) (3) (A) in the current
Constitution and

He obtained his Masters of Education in Administration in 2001 and a Doctorate of Education in Educational Leadership in 2006 from Sam Houston State University. Scott is currently the Principal of the High School for Performing and Visual Arts (HSPVA) in Houston ISD. Having been involved in high school OAP and having directed OAP for seven years, Scott now works around the state doing clinics and festivals for both OAP and speech competitions. In addition to his UIL OAP and Speech involvement, Scott's background includes theatre work in New York and community theatre in Texas. years as a teacher, director and adjudicator. He has a continuing interest in the
student and the creative process on stage. As a director, Larry competed
in the UIL OAP contest for twenty years, advancing to regional meet many
times and to state twice. His 1981 production won at the state meet. In
2004, he was recognized by the University of Texas Excellence Awards as
one of the outstanding high school teachers in the state.

- Dr. Laurie Doyle received her PhD in Fine Arts from Texas Tech
University with a specialization in Theatre. Her areas of study were

is an Associate Professor in the Communication/Fine Arts Department. She
has directed numerous plays, musicals and reviews while at LCU. She now

- Cynthia M. SoRelle has taught at McLennan College for the past 21
years and is the Theatre Department Coordinator and Dramaturg. She holds
a Ph.D. in Theatre from the University of Texas at Austin. Dr. SoRelle
has served on the Texas Educational Theatre Association's Adjudicators
Organization Standards and Administrative Committees and has adjudicated
numerous festivals and play contests at every level, including UIL
state. She has served on the TETA Board of Directors as Secretary, and
was a recipient of the 2000 Texas Educational Theatre Association
Founder's Award. Dr. SoRelle is also a recipient of the University of
Texas/NISOD Teaching Excellence Award (1997). She is a member of the
Association for Theatre in Higher Education, where she served as
Dramaturgy Conference Planner (1998-2000) and Dramaturgy Focus Group
Representative (2000-2002). Dr. SoRelle is active in Literary Managers
and Dramaturgs of the Americas (LMDA), an association comprised of
academic and professional dramaturgs in the United States and Canada.

- Travis Springfield graduated Summa Cum Laude with a BFA in Acting from Southwest Texas State University in 1991. He has been involved with educational theatre for the last 16 years as a classroom teacher, director, clinician, contest manager, and judge. Mr. Springfield is an elected member of the administrative committee of the TETA-AO that reviews the one-act play judging process and has adjudicated at all levels of competition. He worked with UIL OAP each of the nine years he taught theatre and has advanced to every stage of the contest including three trips to the State competition with a State Championship in 1997.
