Tournament Information

School Parking

All schools must enter the park using the Old Settler's Blvd Park (back) entrance! A parking pass is included in your packet. Park in designated area(s) only. You risk being ticketed and towed if you are not in a designated parking area. DO NOT PARK ON THE ROAD. See the bottom of the "Maps & Directions" page directions to the School Parking area.

Public Parking

Parking and shuttle service will be available at the Dell Diamond parking area for $5.00 per day.

Numbers

All contestants must wear numbers attached to the front of their jersey. Four safety pins are provided to attach numbers.

Timing Chips

All participating contestants (7 team members and individuals) are to report to starting line area at least 20 minutes prior to race time. ALL timing chips will be numbered and MUST correspond to the contestant's bib number. Timing chips will be worn by lacing securely onto running shoes. It is VERY important that ALL bib numbers and timing chip numbers match! Chips that do not match or lost chips should be reported immediately to the finish line judge.

Dress Regulations

Contestants may not wear caps, toboggans, decorative hair ties, or jewelry. They may use string, rubber bands, bobby pins, or tape to keep hair in place. (Meet referee may permit above items in case of inclement weather.)

Dressing Rooms and Restrooms

There will be no dressing facilities. Portable toilets will be available to the public and athletes.

Practice Workouts

Teams and individuals entered in the State Cross Country Meet may workout or walk the course on Friday after 2:30pm. The course will be closed at sundown on Friday.

Course

All runners shall be instructed to run between cones and/or flags, which will outline the entire course. Do not mark the course in any way or you will be subject to disqualification! Inspectors and course marshals will be positioned along the course to observe and report any infraction.

Starting Box Assignments

Starting box assignments established by the UIL office through a seeding process are included in the packet of instructions.

Starting

The command shall be, "Runners Set"; and when all competitors are steady, the pistol shall be fired. In an unfair start, the starter or assistant shall recall the runners by firing the pistol. If a runner falls during the first 100 m due to contact with another runner, the race shall be recalled by firing the pistol. In accordance with the National Federation rules, any runner who false starts shall be disqualified.

Finish Chute Procedures

Chute inspectors will help supervise the runners after they enter the chute. In accordance with the National Federation rules, when chips are used, it is the position of the chip, not the torso that determines the finishing position of the runner.

Medals

Each first-place team will receive a trophy and the runner-up team will receive a plaque. Seven team members each from the first, second, and third-place teams will receive medals. The first ten finishers in each class will receive medals. Medals will be presented 30 minutes after each conference's race (both boys and girls) and after the official results have been posted.

Programs, T-Shirts, Concessions

Programs will be available for $5.00. T-shirts and other items will be available for purchase. Concessions will be available from 8:00 am - 2:30 pm. Hamburgers, hot dogs, chips, drinks, etc. will be available.

Results

Final results will be posted at the meet site. Official results will be posted on the UIL web site.

Spectators

Spectators will be charged an admission fee of $5.00 (per person). Spectators must stay off the course as marked, away from the starting line and finish line, and in roped areas to avoid interfering with any aspect of the race.
