Beginning with the 2008-09 school year, the UIL Legislative Council has authorized all first year coaches and any coach who is not a full-time employee of the school district to complete the NFHS Fundamentals of Coaching Course prior to their participation as a coach for any UIL member school. EXCEPTION: Retired teachers/administrators with 20 or more years experience and student teachers.

The cost of the course is $35 and shall be paid for by the coach or school district.

Upon completion of the course, coaches shall print a copy of the Completion Certificate and submit it to their Athletic Director, who will keep it on file at the school.
