Tournament Information
Warm Up
Teams may be able to use Red McCombs and Disch-Falk field for warm up. Please do not hit balls against fence.
Thursday, Friday & Saturday Infield Practice
Ten minutes will be allowed each team for infield practice before the game. The home team will take infield practice first. Teams playing the second game of the session should be ready to take infield practice immediately following the first game. If warm-up time is cut because of scheduling problems, each team shall have the same amount of time for warm-up.
Pictures
Pictures will be taken on Thursday and Friday, one hour prior to your semifinal game.
Games
Games shall be seven (7) innings. National Federation Softball Rules will be followed in all games.
Ten-Run Rule
In the State Tournament, the ten-run rule will be in effect. After five (5) innings of play, if one team is ten (10) or more runs ahead of its opponent, the game shall be over. (Or if 4 1/2 innings have been completed and the home team is ten or more runs ahead.)
Coaching Boxes
1st and 3rd base coaching boxes may be occupied by a coach or a player in uniform or appropriate team apparel.
Designation of "Home" and "Visitor"
The two top seeded teams will be the home team in the semi-finals. A coin flip prior to the final game will determine the home team. The home team will sit on the third base side.
Pitching
A pitcher will be allowed ten (10) warm-up pitches in the first appearance in the game and only five (5) thereafter.
Conduct
Good sportsmanship shall be observed by fans, coaches and players at all times. Do not "charge" an umpire after a call. Any inquiries should be made in a professional manner. All sections of the Athletic Code shall be followed and enforced.
Head Protectors
All players must wear head protectors while batting and base running. Any player who does not abide by this regulation shall be disqualified.
Rain Out Procedure:
- The decision to stop a game rests with the umpire-in-chief, (usually the plate umpire).
- A game suspended/delayed by rain shall be restarted from the point of suspension as soon as possible as outlined in rule 4-2-5 of the National Federation Baseball Rules.
- If the suspension lasts over an indefinite period of time and the team leaves the site, coaches must leave telephone numbers of their respective hotels.
- The state tournament management may shorten games or alter the tournament format in order to avoid undue expense or an extended tournament.
Game Balls
The game ball will be selected by the UIL.
Introductions
Players will go from home plate to respective dug out side line (non-starters first) as they are introduced.
Presentation / Medals
Teams that do not advance to the finals will receive a plaque for the school and bronze medals. The UIL Staff will make a short presentation on the field following each game.
Finals
Teams receiving awards should be ready for the ceremony as soon as the game is over. Both teams will be lined up on respective sideline to be draped.
Medals
1A and 2A will be given 20 medals, 3A will be given 22 medals and 4A and 5A will be given 25 medals. Additional medals are available on site unless we run out (others can be ordered). Turn in medal form prior to your first game.
Uniforms / Roster
Players' numbers should correspond with the program roster. If there are errors, please contact tournament staff, before the pictures are taken. A player whose number is not in the program will not be permitted to begin a series without advance arrangements with the officials, scorer, and UIL staff.
Trainers
A trainer will be available 30 minutes prior to your game. You must bring your own supplies if you wish to be taped.
Cheerleaders
Cheerleaders and fans are to stay off the field at all times. As a part of the crowd during this event, we expect cheerleaders to lead the crowd in enthusiastic tasteful chants and cheers. Behavior before, during and after the game reflects upon your school. Cheerleaders will be allowed in free only if in uniform.
Signs, flags or banners
Signs, flags or banners are not permitted in the stadium. No signs, flags or banners of any size may be affixed to the facility. Items that can be held by one individual, reflect good sportsmanship and do not block the view of other ticket patrons may be permitted.
Videotaping
All games will be videotaped by Gametapes.com. No other individuals will be permitted to videotape.
Split
Checks can be expected in late spring after the audit for the tournament is completed.
Additional Info
All school busses will park in lot 115. You must enter the lot from Leona Street.
Teams enter Gate 6 - (team list - only players/coaches/staff on roster will be allowed in Gate 6)
Team seating when not playing will be along the first base line (by dugout)
