No Workouts
After qualifying for state tournament, no workouts are permitted at the state tournament sites. The courts will be available the morning of the tournament.
Meet Director
Darryl Beasley, UIL Assistant Athletic Director, shall serve as tournament director.
Format
The state tournament, in each conference (4A and 5A), will be a single elimination tournament held in Austin for the four schools qualifying at the four regional tournaments.
Pairings
The League office will determine the draw for the tournament. Pairings will be released on Monday morning prior to the tournament. The two teams with the best records will be placed in opposite brackets. The team with the third best record will be placed up or down according to a coin flip. The remaining team will be placed in the empty bracket. The actual win/loss percentage will determine the ranking of the teams - not the strength or weakness of the playing schedule.
Coaches Meeting
There will be a meeting of the eight team tennis coaches (4A and 5A) whose teams have qualified to the state tournament. The meeting will be at the Lakeway World of Tennis on Friday prior to the start of the first match (exact time to be announced).
Inclement Weather Schedule
Report to the courts regardless of the weather. Matches will begin as soon as the courts are playable. It is recommended that each team bring two roll drys to the tournament. Teams will need to help dry the courts.
Balls
The UIL will furnish balls for each dual match.
Awards
Teams will be asked to observe the program for presentation of awards after their matches. Each team will receive 16 medals. If extras are needed, you may purchase them.
Programs
Each team will receive two state meet programs. Others may be purchased at the site during the tournament.
Supervision Of Students
Each school is responsible for their students and their behavior during these contests.
Lodging Regulations
Please bring tax-exempt number to avoid paying tax. Each school must take care of their own lodging. Coaches are responsible for the proper conduct of their players while staying at the motels.
Filming of Games
If your school desires to film or videotape your state tournament matches, contact UIL staff before setting up equipment. Only teams playing will be able to film their own match.
Team Pictures
Team pictures will be taken thirty minutes prior to the first match. Correct spelling of players' names should correspond with the program roster. If there are errors, please contact a tournament official. Order blanks will be given to coaches for ordering team pictures.
Tournament Time
The tournament sessions are divided into 4-hour blocks. The site director will call for the matches.
