Tournament Information
Coaches Meeting
School packets can be picked up at Strahan Coliseum. There will not be a coaches meeting prior to the start of the tournament.
Tickets and Programs
22 tournament tickets will be provided and two programs to competing schools. We will provide eight additional tickets for each school's administrators. Cheerleaders in uniform will not need a ticket to enter the arena.
Supervision of Students and Cheerleaders
Each school is responsible for their students and behavior exhibited during all contests.
Lodging Regulations
Each school shall settle all lodging bills before checking out. Coaches are responsible for the proper conduct of their players at the hotels.
Parking
Parking is available in the lot adjacent to Strahan Coliseum. Special team bus parking will be provided near Straham Coliseum.
Team Entrance
Everyone entering with the team must have the appropriate ticket. Anyone without a ticket or tournament pass must enter through the general admission doors.
Team Pictures
Team pictures will be taken on Thursday & Friday prior to each semi-final match. Players' numbers should correspond with the program roster. If there are errors, please contact the UIL staff before the pictures are taken. Information on ordering photos will be in team packets given to coaches for ordering team pictures after the tournament.
Videotaping
UIL will arrange for videotaping of all games. Schools will receive one free copy and may order other tapes. All tape revenue will be put with the gate receipts to be split by schools. Schools or individuals will not be permitted to film or videotape. Please tell your fans and parents before coming to the tournament that no videos or filming apparatus will be allowed in the gym.
Awards
Teams will be asked to observe the program for presentation of awards after their games. Extra medals will be available in some quantities at the tournament, but schools will have to purchase extra medals above the 18 for A, AA, AAA and 20 for AAAA and AAAAA. Please fill out the medal order form in your team packet. Extra medals will be available during the ceremony.
Gymnasium Regulations
Band instruments, horns, mechanical noisemakers, confetti and live animals will not be allowed in the gymnasium. No hanging signs, balloons, large flags, or banners are permitted.
Benches
Benches will be reserved at each end of the scoring table for the teams participating in the match. The teams listed in the top of each bracket will be the home team. Home team and visitors benches will be marked. Teams will change benches after each game.
Non-Playing Team Members
Team members not playing in the game shall remain seated on the team bench during a game except to:
- Spontaneously react to an outstanding play by members of their own team;
- Go to a non-playable area to warm-up without balls prior to entry into the game as a substitute.
Shoes
All players shall wear shoes that do not mark the floor. Players without proper shoes will not be allowed on the court.
Rosters
Players' numbers should correspond with the program roster. If there are errors, please contact the UIL staff before the pictures are taken. A player whose number is not in the program will not be permitted to begin a series without advance arrangements with the officials and scorer.
Trainers
There will be trainers available, but schools need to bring supplies.
Pre Tournament Workouts
Schools may work out at other school locations provided the school makes their own arrangements with the administrator at the school.
Warm-Ups
There will be no pre-tournament workouts at Strahan Coliseum. There will be two auxiliary gyms available for warm-ups during the tournament.
- Teams playing the first match of a session may begin warming up as soon as the gym is open. Fifteen minutes prior to starting time the 15-minute warm-up procedure will apply.
- Teams playing the second or third match of a session may warm-up in the auxilary gyms and then move to the main floor as soon as the previous match has been completed. Due to the schedule, each team will be given a maximum of 15 minutes on the playing floor to warm-up. The following procedure will apply for the last 15 minutes:
- 15 minute warm-up procedure: Each team will have entire court for 6 minutes. Both teams will share the court for the last 3 minutes for serves.
- The remaining time will be used for introductions. Team members will line up along the volleyball endline facing the center of the court. Each player will have their name announced. Starters will step forward as their names are announced. Players will remain in place during the National Anthem.
