2012-2013 UIL Anabolic Steroid Testing Report

The UIL Anabolic Steroid Testing Report for the 2012-13 school year has been released by the UIL. The statistical report of the testing program that took place between September 2012 and May 2013 includes information such as the total number of tests conducted, the number of positive results and the breakdown of student-athletes tested by sport and gender.

Of the 3,351 tests conducted, there were nine (9) confirmed positive results and two (2) protocol violations, both for unexcused absence at the time the test was administered.

Of the 201 schools where tests were conducted, 3,119 boys were tested representing 11 sports and 229 girls were tested representing 10 sports. The sports with the most student-athletes tested were football for males (1362) and soccer for females (29).  The total number of student-athletes tested for each sport, includes multiple sport participants. Therefore, the individual sport numbers will differ from the total number of athletes tested. Overall, there were 1,057 senior student-athletes tested, the most of any grade level.
