The 68th annual meeting of the Legislative Council of the University Interscholastic League will be held on Sunday and Monday, October 19 & 20, 2008, at the Crowne Plaza Hotel, Austin, Texas.

New Athletics Regulations for 2008-2009
As the end of summer rapidly approaches and your athletic programs gear up for another school year, there are some important changes relating to UIL rules for coaches and District Executive Committees. We urge you to take the time to review these changes before your school year begins.

District Executive Committee Member Online Training
The UIL Legislative Council in October passed a rule, which requires annual training for at least one member of each UIL district executive committee for basketball. The training is available online at the UIL website. DEC representative members must first register for an account on the UIL Gateway. Once registered as a DEC member or DEC Chair, you will be directed to the DEC training.

2007-08 UIL Anabolic Steroid Testing Report
The UIL Anabolic Steroid Testing Report for the 2007-08 school year has been released by the UIL. The statistical report of the testing program that took place between February 2008 and June 2008 includes information such as the total number of tests conducted, the number of positive results and the breakdown of student-athletes tested by sport and gender.

New UIL Coaches Education Requirement for Athletics
All first year coaches and any coach who is not a full-time employee of the school district must complete the NFHS Fundamentals of Coaching Course prior to their participation as a coach for any UIL member school. The NFHS Online Course is now available.

The COPE Online Program is Now Available for Coaches in Athletics
All coaches are required to complete Coaches and Officials Positive Expectations certification each year. The COPE program is now available only via the UIL Website.
