SUBJECT: Revision of the Texas UIL Prescribed Music List

The Texas University Interscholastic League is in the process of revising its Prescribed Music List. This document serves as the repertoire guide for the approximately 500,000 music students and 3,800 performing organizations in the state of Texas. All participants must select a significant part, and in some cases all, of their festival/contest repertoire from this manual. The Prescribed Music List has traditionally been one of the primary sources of performance materials for school music programs throughout the nation. The next edition of the PML is scheduled for release in the Fall of 2007. The committees welcome the opportunity to review any music published since 2002. While submissions will be accepted through the end of 2006 it is recommended that you provide materials prior to June 2006 since the bulk of work will take place during the summer months.

The names and addresses of individuals charged with the responsibility of reviewing new music follows. The committees request that publications be submitted in compliance with the guidelines herein stated.

All works submitted by publishers will be given careful consideration; however, the submission of music does not guarantee inclusion on the revised list. Nor is it the responsibility of the committees to provide written rationale for the acceptance or rejection of publications. It is understood that any music sent will be complimentary, therefore the UIL does not have provisions for the return of submitted materials.

BAND

CONCERT BAND SUBMISSIONS: Submit a score and recording* to the State UIL Music Office and each member of the Band Committee.

OPTIONAL BUT PREFERRED:  In addition, submit a complete set of  performance materials to the committee chairman.

(*) If no recording is available submit a score and complete set of performance materials to the State UIL Music Office.

WIND AND PERCUSSION SOLO AND ENSEMBLE SUBMISSIONS: Submit one score (preferably with parts) to the Committee Chairman.

VOCAL

CONCERT CHOIR SUBMISSIONS: Submit a score (with recording if available) to each member of the Vocal Committee.

VOCAL SOLO AND ENSEMBLE SUBMISSIONS: Submit a score (with recording if available) to each member of the Vocal Committee.

ORCHESTRA

CONCERT ORCHESTRA SUBMISSIONS (String and Full): Submit a score and recording* to each member of the Orchestra Committee.

STRING SOLOS AND ENSEMBLES SUBMISSIONS (Including piano and guitar): Submit one score (preferably with parts) to the Committee Chairman
