A few years ago, I was chatting with some other coaches about how it was difficult to get kids on a bus before daybreak on a Saturday. We talked about having a tournament during the week, but there was that school thing that was also going on in the building. Last year, I spoke with Dr. Judy Abbott about moving Dr. Edwards' CX workshop to SFA so that we could do it during the day instead of after school and it was a big hit. Encouraged by this, I spoke with Dr. Abbott about SFA hosting an invitational during the week, so... Center High School and Stephen F Austin State University invite you to attend our First Lumberjack/Roughrider Invitational Tournament on Friday, January 24, 2020. We will be offering all UIL Academic events (except Computer Science hands on) including CX and LD debate. We will also be following the UIL Academic Conflict Pattern with CX and LD scheduled together. All events will follow UIL rules and guidelines.

Email if interested ideas, suggestions or take a lead. ALL Coaches will be required to judge some rounds or bring a volunteer judge in their place or to pay for judges. We are happy to invite you to the Westwood UIL Tournament on February 22, 2020. We offer every UIL academic event, which also includes the speech and debate events. We have gone to great efforts to acquire some of the best judges available in each event. We allow students to double enter in prose and poetry and we allow students to enter both informative and persuasive extemporaneous speaking. Our Number Sense, Math, Calculator, and Science tests will be provided by TMSCA, Spelling test from ASW Enterprises, and all other academic tests will be provided by HEXCO. (Please note: Journalism tests will be UIL Set B.) Computer Science (Written and Hands-On) - this test, written by a former writer of the official UIL invitational, district, regional, and state CompSci tests, will be a Westwood exclusive! No other school or contest in the state will be offering it. We offer one of the best hospitality lounges in Central Texas, complimentary to all sponsors and school coaches. When we say ‘best hospitality’, we mean it! All entries must be made on Joy of Tournaments.
